A City Escape to Hilton Nottingham

I have been lucky enough to stay in some amazing hotels, not just in the UK but around the world and I have to say that the Hilton Hotel group never fail to hit the mark then it comes to their breakfasts…

The variety on offer during this morning meal, is extremely impressive and they quite literally do not miss a trick.  From the usual continental options of freshly baked pastries, meats, cheeses and cereals, everything is done well – for example by the cereal bar of dainty jars of toppings such as healthy seeds and dried fruit.  In amongst the pastries are skewers of bagels and the bread is delicious.  You can head to the grill and request your eggs to be done any way you like, with or without the full English breakfast additions and of course there are a selection of tea/s coffees and juices with fruit yogurt and even smoothie shots.

Now, the breakfast isn’t the only thing I got excited about during my recent stay at Hilton Nottingham, as from the moment I arrived I was made to feel welcome.  The check-in process was seamless and warm, with the added bonus of a glass of Prosecco, Pipers crisps and Green & Blacks organic chocolate handed to me as welcome gifts (these come as standard for Fridays/weekend Check-ins).  My room was on the fourth floor and was part of the new refurbishment – a very good sized suite with brand new everything.  The bed was huge and extremely comfortable (you cannot beat Hilton pillows), the carpets and drapes all smelt lovely and new and there were two notable sized televisions pointing towards both the bed and the sofa.

Hilton do attention to detail very well and as such we arrived to our room to swan towels and petals on our bed, a selection of miniature gin and tonics by Redsmith Gin – homage to supporting local independents and a tin of salted caramel truffles!

The bathroom – again completely refurbished had a shower over bath, along with Crabtree and Evelyn miniature toiletries and a decent sized sink with shiny new chrome lever tap.

Robes were discovered in our wardrobe, so I headed downstairs in the lift to the fitness suite and spa where I enjoyed a swim, some time in the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, all of which are automatically included in your stay at no extra charge.

Dinner took place in Bric, the hotel restaurant, which houses large and comfortable booths – Abbey and her team looked after us as we enjoyed a glass of wine with our meal.  I opted for the vegetarian linguine flavoured with pesto, pine nuts and Italian hard cheese and my dining partner went for the steak and chips with a side order of onion rings.

Not one to miss an opportunity, we stretched the boat out for dessert with the most delicious sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie both served with vanilla ice-cream.

Cocktails are on a two for one deal at certain times and we learnt that in fact the pina Colada was actually invented by the Hilton hotel group many years ag0 so it would be rude not to– amazing!

The view we had from our window looked out over the front of the hotel, so we could people watch from above and to say we were so central, actually had a very peaceful night’s sleep.

To summarise, Hilton Hotel so far for me have never failed to satisfy, for both a comfortable nights sleep, service and quality of food- notably the breakfast being my highlight, as well as the sticky toffee pudding and attention to details upon check-in and on arrival to our room.

I would not hesitate to recommend.
