DINNER, BED & BREAKFAST AT NOTTINGHAM BELFRY
Nottingham Belfry -part of the Q Hotel Collection is perched on the edge of Nottingham with 120 bedrooms, a large conference centre, Elemis health club and spa, bar and two restaurants and so there was a lot for me to see on my recent visit…
Following an efficient and friendly welcome upon check-in, our room was impressive – the suite with its large open living space had a dining table, chairs, mini bar containing beer, wine and coke, as well as hot drinks making facilities, along with a large screen television making for a cosy stay. Our bedroom had a four poster bed- large and very comfortable encouraging a rare good night’s sleep for me, along with another large screen television made for a cosy hotel nap before dinner and a relaxing overall stay.
Our bathroom contained twin sinks, a power shower and large impressive bath tub, which I’d have liked to have taken advantage of but ran out of time to on this occasion.
The Lawrence restaurant named after locally born poet DH Lawrence, offers a well rounded menu, to which we opted for two courses and a shared dessert.
To start I went for the Grilled goats cheese salad, which arrived beautifully presented and warm (I am always a little bemused when goats cheese is serve cold on a salad), so this was a delight of flavours and tasted lovely. My dining partner went for the Lamb and rosemary pie for main course, served with veg and potato fondant – a dish he was very much looking forward to and did not disappoint and I went with the vegetarian dish of Mushroom and tomato tagliatelle, which is usually served with a tomato based sauce, as opposed to the usual more common creamy sauce and was very tasty thanks to the red pepper kick. To finish I decided against dessert and opted for a hot chocolate with a shot of Bailey’s and yum- a light way to end a wonderful meal and encourage a peaceful slumber. My dining partner however went all in with the Chocolate fondant pudding served with vanilla ice cream – a chocolate fans delight!
The restaurant also offer afternoon tea and private dining options, as well as a delicious breakfast, which we went on to enjoy the following morning after a much needed good night’s sleep. Breakfast options were plentiful, with the usual continental choices available, as well as a good selection of hot English at the breakfast buffet and as a vegetarian, I was pleased to have the option of made to order, freshly cooked veggie sausages and scrambled egg.
Our check-out was once again efficient and quick and parking at the hotel is both free and ample making the whole experience pretty flawless from arrival to departure and that’s after all what you come to want and expect of a great hotel experience, whether on business or pleasure right?
The Nottingham Belfry is a superb events venue with years of experience in hosting both weddings, private and business conference events offering delegate packages, flexible meeting rooms, co working spaces with free WIFI and room space for up to 500.
