Big Friday night at Tamasha
Tamasha Asian Grill celebrated its two-year anniversary this November and has had a successful start in business with rave reviews, so when I was recently invited to try it for myself, I was more than excited…
Tamasha is based on Mapperley Top, just ten minutes from Nottingham city centre with ample nearby free parking. Specialising in Asian fusion cuisine, tapas and cocktails, they know how to cook and serve food really well. The open kitchen provides a great atmosphere with the sounds and smells wafting over the tables and the spec- well, everything is done to a high standard put it that way. Take our Prosecco for example, which was served in 1920’s style crystal cut glasses with a raspberry. Branded cloth napkins and beautiful dishware all contribute towards Tamasha’s stylish interior, which with its neon signages and beautiful cherry blossom ceilings is made Instagram friendly for those who participate. Above all, it has depth and that is what really matters, given it is all about the food and the food here is exceptional.
As vegetarians, we opted to try the tapas menu and with six vegetarian dishes to try, we weren’t short of options, which included pitta with three different flavoured hummus’, Padron peppers, samosas (non-greasy and so light), Smokey garlic mushrooms on sourdough with a subtle chilli kick, ‘Dynamite Cauliflower’ which came crispy in batter with a very special spiced mayo – delicious! My favourite dish had to be the Crispy chilli cheese which was very impressive indeed and the dish that I would think about for days afterwards.
Instead of dessert, we went for a Tia Maria coffee and Cherry Bakewell dessert cocktail – very sweet and visually pretty. The menu at Tamasha Grill is certainly extensive, even offering a Sunday roast and breakfast option which I am looking forward to trying next!
Tamasha attracts a diverse audience and with its stylish, but welcoming interior, great food and service is a winner in my books and a place I am so pleased to have discovered, which conveniently happens to be on my doorstep.
