Belton Woods Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

Part of the Q Hotels Collection, Belton Woods is a country hotel, located in Lincolnshire, just three miles from the historic market town of Grantham, set in acres of woodland, this popular 36 hole golf resort also houses an Elemis spa, health club and three dining venues and I was lucky enough to experience it all!

The hotel can be found at the end of a picturesque country lane, with plenty of free parking for hotel guests, I was greeted with a warm welcome by the friendly reception team, as Iris explained the essentials.

As we were slightly early, our room wasn’t quite ready, however we were offered a shelter for our baggage so that we could jump straight into using the facilities, of which the spa was my first port of call.

I enjoyed twenty lengths in the large pool, a brief stint in the sauna and steam rooms and of course it would be rude not to take a dip in the jacuzzi, before choosing my spa treatment for the following morning with the super friendly lady on the Elemis spa reception.

So far so good, as we checked into our room, to be greeted with a welcome gift of Hawkins gingerbread- (the best I have ever tasted), so much so we went on a hunt for the Hawkins bakery in Grantham the following day!  The bedroom was a good size, with two double beds on this occasion, along with the nice touch of a fully stocked mini bar.

Dinner came soon after and the restaurant atmosphere was vibrant, with a modern interior, soft lighting and friendly service.  We opted for two courses from the expansive menu, including calamari and homemade red pepper and tomato soup to start, which was served with salted warm sourdough- delicious.  For main we went for risotto and a pie and mash with roasted veggies on the side and by the time dessert was due, we were satisfied with a simple Bailey’s hot chocolate each, which we took into the cosy dram style bar to enjoy by the Christmas tree.

Soon enough, it was time for us to retire and following a good night’s sleep, we went back down to the restaurant for breakfast, where we were given the option of both continental and cooked dishes; the highlight being the view over the golf course.

The views overall are lovely, given the location and we were grateful to have a room with a balcony overlooking the greenery of the course, which I imagine is most appreciated in the Spring/Summer months.

I next headed down to the spa to take advantage of one of their signature massage and facials delivered by Dierdre, a lovely hour-long treatment which I was very grateful for.

The spa offers a fantastic selection of treatments, also housing its own café area and opportunity to purchase products.

In summary, Belton Woods is a fantastic hotel for anyone looking for an affordable yet quality stay, featuring state of the art golf facilities, health club and spa facilities and of course the bar and restaurant, all within a beautiful woodland location – what more could you ask for?
