Roomzzz
Saying goodbye to the long standing Welbeck Hotel in Nottingham was sad for me, however seeing what has replaced it has made up for the sadness, as now in its place stands modern, ‘aparthotel’ – Roomzzz…
Roomzz are a chain of apartment slash hotels who have recently arrived on Talbot Street in Nottingham and stand out as being super affordable and really quite nice.
The decor upon arrival is striking and colourful, a large reception area and foyer featuring a small shop selling essentials, those all important late night snacks of crisps and chocolate, as well as other useful items that may have caught you out when rushing to pack your case.
A chill out lounge area with free Wifi also proceeded the reception area with a ‘Grab & Go’ breakfast area- something I looked forward to sampling the following morning of my stay.
A lift took us to the 2nd floor where our studio room awaited us, a good size with a small kitchen area, featuring a microwave grill, sink and dishwasher.
A good sized bed, with flat screen TV on the wall and two seater settee- this definitely had a small scale apartment feel about it and the nicest element was that we were aware it was all pretty new, shiny unused cutlery, spotless shower and comfy barely slept in bed- something that you rarely get a chance to experience with hotels.
A good night’s sleep was had at the appropriately names Room’zzz’ and the power shower was a nice addition in the morning just before breakfast, which incidentally was enjoyed in bed- served 7am-10am, we decided to ‘Grab & Go’ back to bed to eat our bag of goodies which included, croissants, pastries, fruit and fresh juice and tea/coffee.
There is ample parking at the site in their underground car park at a cost of £10 per night, however it is on a first come first served basis and cannot be booked in advance which seems a bit of a shame, but there is a multi-storey car park next door priced the same if parking is full, so a good back-up plan.
I would say that if you have relatives /friends coming over to Nottingham, you need a place to stay after a night out in the city or are looking for a place to kip when over on business then Roomzzz is definitely a great alternative to some of the larger often more tired chained hotels out there- Giving a comfy nights stay without the fancy trimmings at a very reasonable price.
