Say hello to Anthony’s little friend @ peter pizzeria

Peter Pizzeria has just arrived in Nottingham, is located in a former city bank and ticks all the boxes for being an interesting hidden gem of a hide out, plus their pizza rocks…

I was invited to attend the opening week to meet the team (who by the way went above and beyond) and of course sample the goods and I was not disappointed.  The restaurant is based on Pepper Street, Nottingham, slightly hidden from one of the main retail high streets, has a hipster outdoor area and a cosy interior once inside, with an open kitchen, giant Italian style pizza oven and plenty of busy chefs cooking up a storm, creating just the right atmosphere you’d expect for an authentic pizza restaurant.  I say authentic because the chefs here are all trained at Pizza School in Naples (yes that really is a thing).

Our drinks of choice were Limoncello Spritz’s- yes as delicious as they sound and the pizza menu is made up of twelve signature pizza’s from ‘Queen Margarita’ (one of my favourite pizza choices being vegetarian), to ‘Leave meat alone II -The Sequel’ or how about a ‘Say hello to Anthony’s little friend’ consisting of Strianese tomatoes, Fior de Latte (a type of Italian cheese), Guanciale, Nduja, Bella Lodi and basil (you’d be forgiven if the only thing you recognise here is the basil like moi).

My dining partner opted for ‘The Old’, which arrived with ricotta, salami fennel, pistachio and truffle oil and it was as yum as it sounds according to him, the best pizza he’s ever eaten.

After stuffing ourselves silly, we had a wander around the interesting venue, steeped in history, given the more intimate dining room is where the banks vault once was (the doorless frame is still a mile wide), think the film The Italian job, ‘You’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!’

The pizza oven is smack bank in the old bank gaffer’s office and in fact that said person has apparently been located and is heading over there to make pizza in his office very soon- classic!

Anyway, all in all what I am saying is this pizza restaurant is a very welcomed addition to Nottingham and somewhere I will certainly frequent again.

Get yourself there to Peter Pizzeria Nottingham or Loughborough/Leicester (because there is one there too)- Bellissimo.
