Holiday Inn Castle Marina
The Holiday Inn, Castle Marina has recently undergone a substantial refurbishment and so off I went to check it out…
Parking is free for residents, tick number one and in my experience of coming to the hotel, there is always ample parking space. Upon arrival I was greeted warmly by Jordan on reception, who checked me in quickly and efficiently, which was appreciated given it was past seven o’clock and I was tired and hungry after a long day at work.
I subsequently dumped my bags in my room, which by the way was lovely – freshly decorated, with a very clean, new feel given the rooms have also recently been given a makeover.
Next stop was back down the lift to the hotel restaurant, where I ordered a starter of nachos (one of my favourite go to’s when I am extra hungry) and this portion size was very generous with plenty of cheese- a winner already! Main was mushroom and truffle tagliatelle- again a good-sized portion, very tasty, rich and creamy- delicious and a good job my next stop was a relaxing evening in bed.
The two courses along with a glass of wine was enough, however I was offered dessert and it would have been rude not to, so I decided to take a Bakewell Tart up to my room for later, thanks to the obliging staff who facilitated this for me, so off I went back up the lift, Bakewell tart on tray (complete with a hand written smiley face on the napkin) – it’s always the personal touches.
Bedtime came quickly, but first the use of the newly refurbed bathroom and large power shower, which was lovely. The beds are super comfy and the room temperature just right, so before light’s out, I decided to watch The Joker on the large screen TV whilst indulging in the tart from Bakewell.
Morning came suddenly due to the amazing sleep I had in said comfy bed (and I am not a great sleeper usually), so off I trundled back down the lift for breakfast, which was a combination of English cooked and continental cold with the usual tea/coffee/juice stations, pastry selection and toast machine. I opted for beans on toast with a hashbrown given I am vegetarian and love carbs.
Once ready, I was checked out by a friendly lady on reception, who was genuinely happy I loved the shower, as she too appreciated the refurbishments and I left feeling happy and satisfied that I had, had a wonderful stay, with really nice food and great service and as such wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this fantastic hotel.
It’s worth mentioning that Holiday Inn, Castle Marina also has a fantastic events space for hire, as well as co meeting spaces with free Wifi.
