The Residence Boutique Hotel @ The Nottinghamshire
The Residence Boutique Hotel is now officially open and is situated on the site of The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club in Cotgrave- a popular site for both golf fans and weddings and events in the Nottinghamshire county.
For golf lovers alike the club is the only 36 hole golf complex in Nottingham and have in recent years benefitted from 4 million pounds worth of investment in total, with an ongoing programme of improvements to all facilities, including the revamp of their Lakeview restaurant and the introduction of a brand new addition- The Residence Hotel.
The new addition is extremely well priced considering its beautiful interior and exterior and quality furnishings in their stylish rooms.
We were lucky enough to be given The Tiffany Suite for the evening- often advertised as the bridal suite for weddings and I could see why…
The suite was a very good size with its own porch upon entering through the front door…
The king sized bed was the first to draw our eye, plush bedding, scatter cushions and a mammoth velvet headboard. The large window seat in the bay was the second feature to attract our attention, giving a view of the beautiful sunset over the golf course.
A television on the wall opposite the bed and to the foot of it was a comfortable two seater settee as well as all of the modern home comforts of things such as a mini fridge, kettle, iron and board on request etc..
The bathroom- again a good size, with a large wet room , rain shower head and free standing role topped bath- an impressive feature in itself. One super fun gadget was the toilet believe it or not, which had a digital flush system complete with blue light indicator and the textured wallpaper and tiles in both rooms were quite obviously of top quality, as well as the heavy drapes at the windows.
After settling into our suite, it wasn’t long before dinner in the newly refurbished Lakeview restaurant, we were welcomed very warmly by our waitress who couldn’t do enough for us- top marks there!
The menu is very simple British cuisine, the kind of menu that would most certainly be welcomed by hungry golfers after a few hours working up an appetite on the course.
I opted for the tomato soup to start with warm ciabatta bread and butter- a second piece of bread was requested as it was so delicious.
My dining partner went for the duck liver and port pate with seasonal chutney which was also served with warm ciabatta bread- very nice.
For our mains we went for the 8 oz rump steak, crispy onion rings, fries and a homemade salad and as a vegetarian I was offered a tasty vegetable wellington, with new potatoes and greens and to finish a very sweet dessert of a raspberry pavlova made with lemon curd as a nice citrus twist.
My dining partner went for the savoury option of cheese and biscuits which came with three kinds of cheeses and served with mini celery sticks, needless to say we shared and enjoyed the two dishes equally.
A nice glass of Rose Zinfandel accompanied our three course dinner and was just enough to relax us into a pleasant stay in our suite, which offered us a peaceful night’s sleep in a very comfortable, well sized bed.
Morning bought breakfast, which was served until 10am and included a selection of continental pastries and cereals, fresh fruit juices, teas, coffees and a cooked breakfast menu- we naturally went for the full English and full English veggie version comprising of scrambled egg, sautéed mushrooms, tomato, golden hash browns, toast and baked beans, the meat version with of course the addition of sausage and bacon- a well cooked and presented breakfast minus the excessive grease you often find with a typical fry-up.
All in all my first experience of the Residence Hotel was a very positive one, with no quibbles on really anything and so for that reason I would most certainly return and recommend, particularly based on the reasonable room rates and peaceful location.
