Located at Brigitte Beauty & Salt Spa in Beeston, Nottingham, Jodie runs wellbeing sessions within their incredible salt spa room, encompassing breathwork and a guided meditation practise, to provide a safe and calm space to unwind, disconnect with the outside world and reconnect within yourself.
The advantage of the sessions being held within the salt spa itself are positive, with the inhalation of salt particles known as Halotherapy, being a widely used natural treatment for skin and respiratory issues, working to widen air passages and reduce inflammation in the respiratory system; essentially cleaning it and incredibly Halotherapy can be used to help with ailments such as asthma, allergies, COPD and bronchitis, as well as skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.
Halotherapy is completely non-invasive, natural and contributes in positive ways towards your overall wellbeing and so for example within a 45 minute session in the salt cave, particles of salt organically mix together with the air and is breathed in, as such strengthening the lymphatic, nervous and immune system, as well as helping to aid in sleep through the natural calming effect it has on the mind and body.
My first impression of the salt spa was wow! Small, intimate with just four reclining chairs and a room I have never been anywhere like- the stunning warming colours of yellow and oranges delivered from both the salt itself and the lighting provided a welcoming warmth to the room, which made me want to enter immediately, but not before Jodie asked me to remove my shoes and pop on some booties to protect the floor, which is made from 100% Himalayan salt blocks, as are the walls and ceiling- in fact the salt spa is head to toe Himalayan salt, cleverly built from imported salt bricks and is beautifully done.
I chose my chair and made myself comfortable underneath a blanket whilst greeting the other friendly participants of the session, who were regulars. After an introduction to the session, Jodie asked us to close our eyes and all we had to do was take deep breaths and listen. Eventually I stopped focussing so much on my breath, as it came naturally and I zoned in on Jodie’s words through her softly spoken guided meditation. As someone who is experienced at meditating, I don’t tend to find it too difficult to practise, though I realise it isn’t for everyone. Jodie makes it accessible for all, by being approachable, clear and concise- if your mind wanders (which mine always does) then that’s ok, just bring it back when you realise, relax and breathe!

Jodie had a very friendly and spiritual aura and I found the session to be both welcoming and enlightening, plus I had a great night’s sleep that night!
