The Spa at Nottingham Belfry
Having previously stayed at Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa (formally known as Delta Hotels Nottingham Belfry), the hotel has now returned to the Q Hotel Group and it was great to be able to return there myself recently, this time for a relaxing spa session…
The four-star hotel itself, is perched on the edge of the East Midlands, easily accessed from all directions of the region, with ample free parking, a bar/restaurant and impressive conference and events facilities, which house large numbers- something lacking in the Nottinghamshire area overall.
My focus on this particular visit was their spa and so I dressed comfortably, booked myself in for an after work treat and made my way there armed with my swimming kit (school style) and messy bun look. I headed to the reception, where I was directed to the spa area, easily found to the left of the main entrance, which I later realised also had its own entrance from the carpark.
The spa receptionist gave me a towel and robe and guided me to the changing rooms, where I locked away my personal belongings in one of their electronic coded lockers and made my way into the pool area. My swimming target is always forty laps wherever I am in the world and so I set about my goal, very quickly settling into the meditative zone I always find myself in when swimming and completed my set in less than half an hour. My reward for the laps is to pop into the steam room and sauna for a little chill time, which I did and I happened to meet a lovely couple in the sauna who mentioned they were simply there for an overnight getaway (from their children) and a bit of quality time together, having travelled from up North- lovely.
There was also a jacuzzi in the pool area, however a little busy for my liking this time, so I skipped that and headed back to the changing rooms to dress ready for my treatment.
Dionne, was lovely, very personable and explained my chosen treatment to me, asked me to undress and relax on the couch, even checking that the room temperature was to my liking.
I always think the little details like this are super important in enhancing your experience when at a spa, because there is nothing worse than being half naked and cold.
Dionne also asked me if I had any allergies and proceeded to use the delicious smelling Elemis products for my full body deep tissue massage from their Signature collection packages.
I opted for deep tissue, as I work a lot at a desk for my job and find it can affect my back and shoulders, plus stress also causes tension in this area, so generally I am in need of a massage like this once a month ideally. I was tense in various areas of my body and Dionne was excellent at spotting these areas and working on them more so for me, a little sore afterwards naturally, but it was worth it!
Aftercare included advice about bathing to relax sore muscles, drinking plenty of water due to the toxins leaving my body and getting plenty of rest and hopefully a good nights sleep that night- which I did.
The Spa at Nottingham Belfry is open the public, you do not need to be a member to enjoy the facilities, book a spa day or treatment, so one to definitely bear in mind if you are local or enjoying an overnight stay.
