Japanese Head Spa @ Beauty Temple

I never say no to a chance at self-care and absolutely love a good pamper session, and so when Beauty Temple salon owner Lucy Goodwin told me about their brand new luxury Japanese Head Spa treatment, it was a hard yes from me.

This luxurious treatment provides the ultimate relaxation, as you are immersed into the ancient art of Japanese head spa therapy, where; in their words, relaxation meets scalp and hair rejuvenation.

Once laid on the couch under a cosy blanket, Alicia explained the scalp analysis, which she undertook with a close up camera via her iPad- I can honestly say I have never seen my own scalp before (why would I)? and so this in itself was enlightening and I learnt that it is common to have lots of ‘debris’ on your hair follicles, which comes from both grease/dirt and hair products.  The idea of the Japanese Head Spa is to eradicate most of this, as well as provide a whole list of other benefits including;

  • Stress Relief
  • Stimulates Hair Growth
  • Improves Scalp Health
  • Better Sleep
  • Mood Enhancing
  • Relieves Headaches & Migraines
  • Ultimate Relaxation

This treatment is done at their city centre salon based in Nottingham, the original and first of Lucy’s beauty salon empire to open and the one I am most familiar with.  Alicia greeted me and showed me upstairs to the treatment room, where I was met with a new sight- a comfortable couch to lay on, with a wash basin at the head and what I would describe as an unusual sprinkler style tap, which I very quickly came to realise was going to involve lots of water!

There are three packages available for this treatment including The Imperial Serentiy, The Majestic Escape and the one I was treated to, The Royal Cloud Nine– yes please!

All packages include or exclude various elements depending on how much you want to spend and how long you want the treatment to last, however to give you an idea they range from £49 for 40 minutes to £99 for 80 minutes.

Following my scalp analysis, my eyes were covered with a warm eye mask, I was asked to take a few deep breathes over the an essential oil scent and then the scalp exfoliation process began, with a cleanse and conditioning ritual, which was followed by a rinse with the sprinkler or ‘Halo Jets’, as they are professionally known.  Alicia then gave me a therapeutic scalp massage (always the best bit) not forgetting my neck and shoulders.

My face was then foamed (cleansed) and massaged, a face mask applied, followed by steam therapy with a deeply nourishing hair mask (I know you must already be Googling this treatment by now and I don’t blame you).

“321 – and you’re back in the room” (well it didn’t exactly go like that), but Alicia did have to bring me round somewhat after all of that and once I was dressed, sat me downstairs with a cup of herbal tea and wafted dry my hair before sending me on my merry way home straight to bed for the best night’s sleep I had, had in ages.

This treatment is the ultimate indulgence, but also a necessity in this busy and chaotic world we live in, so I cannot recommend heading over to Beauty Temple for a Japanese Head Spa enough- you can thank me later.
